Hi.

Long time forum lurker here and hopefully not far off making my first omega purchase. I was wondering if anybody had any experience or thoughts, good or bad on this particular model, the 3581.50.00 Speedy.

There is one available second hand locally which has caught my attention but I think the face looks a little busy with everything going on.

I will probably hold fire with the aim of getting a speedy pro as this is what I'm looking for and regretted not getting a few years back. The money was burning a hole in my pocket and bought a TAG instead of waiting a bit longer!

Interested in anybody's experience with this model in the meantime as haven't seen much on it in the past.

Casio World Time 'AE-3000W-9AVCF' Condensed Review

First of all.. .Thanks to Mr. MoT for putting this one on the MOT PIF Thread.

The first thing that surprised me when I got this .... is the size of it. You definitely need HULK size wrists to be able to pull this one out... and the case is pretty high too... so not a good watch if you plan to wear it under a shirt.

I started to play with it today as many of my watches need to be sync due to DST. I like the retro green dial; and the ability to scroll through 3 time zones which is what makes the FEATURE of this watch. The watch has your standard G shock features alarms (5), chronometer, timer, night light and as an added visual feature, the globe which actually displays the current time zone that is active on the main time keeping mode. You can set your travel city by scrolling trough the time zones via the search button (this is a bit strange how this is accomplished.... if you go to adjust time zone 1, you cannot adjust time zone 2... you must first scroll the visiting city to be the main time and then adjust) However, being able to display three different time zones is awesome. The watch has your G shock roughness, but without the G price. The crystal is not very protected as it is laid flat and tall above the bezel. The world sub dial, seems to have some dome under neath the main crystal to give it some depth.

Raketa Big Zero Cushion Case Water Resistance

I love my Raketa. It's not a Big Zero cushion case but it's the same watch with a different dial and hands. It's in NOS condition and keeps amazingly good time. It's perfect for cyclying because it's lightweight, I can read it without my reading glasses and it seems to take shocks better than my other watches (most mechanicals lose a few seconds during my typical 35-60 mile group rides). I live in rain soaked Atlanta and I'm afraid of getting caught in a downpour while wearing it. The rear pocket on bike jerseys gets wet from sweat even in dry weather and offers little protection from the rain. I suppose I could carry a Ziplock bag if I have to, but that means stopping the group while I put the watch away which is frowned upon. I know I can't swim or take a shower with it, I just want to know if it's safe to wear in the rain.
